Sable Events specializes in endurance events in and around Flagstaff and Northern Arizona — all at 7,000 feet or higher. Because racing isn't hard enough, right? We figure you should do it breathing through a straw.

Flagstaff is an easy drive from Vegas, Phoenix, or even LA when you're chasing cooler temps, and the terrain up here is endless. It's the same playground that draws athletes to train and tourists by the hundreds: roads, trails, cool air, big scenery, and a good community. Come find out what the fuss is about.

WHAT WE’RE ABOUT

What started as just an idea, after coming home shelled from the original Bear Howard course in 2017. I thought to myself, who wouldn’t love this, while lying on my back and legs cramping having been out of water the last 15 miles. The course has since evolved, and we have added a couple shorter distances so that everyone can taste the high mountain air.

We have been around for a while now, and while our evolution hasn’t all been smooth we think we are just getting this race thing dialed in! Where we can offer the rider the best experience with truly memorable courses. While I can’t take credit for Flagstaff overall, it does serve as an incredible city to host our events!

Over the years we have tried a few racing formats and concepts. This is something Sable will continue to try as the cycling industry changes. But for 2026 we will be making some changes in our events to make them more affordable, collaborating with local youth development programs and ultimately making the barrier to entry more available to all riders.
